August 13, 2011 - 11:00am – 5:00pm

See cars and bikes from the period! Everyone with any vehicle (including farm tractors and trucks) from this period or before is invited to participate for free. There will be trophies for best vehicle in class. This event will be open to the public.  Traders and swappers are welcome. There will be food available, period music will be playing with a live band and/or a DJ.

This event is being sponsored as a fund raiser by the Coventry (Connecticut) Historical Society; all proceeds are to benefit CHS. There will be a $5.00 admission fee for this purpose. As County Executive and a car enthusiast, I am thrilled to invite you to participate in Nassau County’s Second Annual “Cruise to the Show” Parade and Car Show. Our 2010 event was so successful, I am proud to announce that we are expanding “Cruise to the Show” to a two-day event.

On Saturday, September 17, 2011 we will kick off the weekend with a free concert at Eisenhower Park featuring Beach Boy Al Jardine & The Rip Cords.

The parade and car show will take place on Sunday, September 18 with an expanded parade cruise route from Briarcliffe College in Bethpage to Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. The procession will allow car owners the ability to showcase their vehicle to spectators while driving 7-miles down the historic Hempstead Turnpike. Last year, over 1,200 cars participated in the parade - an even higher turnout is expected this year!

Following the parade, the car show will take place in Eisenhower Park. Open free to the public at 11:00 a.m., the car show will allow classic car owners to showcase their vehicles for other enthusiasts as well as the public at large. In addition to hundreds of cars on display, Nassau County is once again hosting automobile vendors, food and drink vendors as well as live music and a craft fair.
